The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4.30 p.m. by President Peg Giesler. In attendance were Trustees Roxanne Michels, Mary Ann Tucker, Mary Taylor, Jerry Cockcroft, Sharon Farris, and Librarian Teresa Pennington.
Absent: Trustees Greg McHenry and Merle Clark.

Minutes of previous meeting: None
Pennington did not receive the minutes to distribute. Michels will email the minutes again for the June meeting.

Finance Report:
Finance report was reviewed. MOTION: Cockcroft, second Taylor. Motion carried.

Book Committee:
MOTION: Michels, second Farris to approve 17 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.

House Committee:
Action on the plastering estimate was postponed since work can’t be done during the summer children’s programs.  Pennington reported that we appear to be ahead of others on meeting the new state elevator code. Much of the remaining upgrades, except electrical and running the phone line, can be done by Otis.

Nominating Committee: The following slate of officers was presented for the 2008-2009 fiscal year: President: Peg Giesler; Vice-president: Mary Ann Tucker; Secretary: Mary Taylor. No other nominations were received. Michels made a motion to accept the slate as presented. Cockcroft seconded. Motion carried

Librarian’s Report (Statistics):
Pennington commented that circulation is up mostly due to interlibrary loans to other libraries.
MOTION: Tucker, second Taylor. Motion carried.

Old Business:
Reading Room: Pennington talked to Nancy. She agreed the plaque should be placed at the room’s entrance. Dedication will be the weekend of September 13th. Pennington ordered new display/shelving for the seven day books and newspapers.
Budget: Minimum wage is going up in July. The increased line item for salaries (approved in April) will cover that and a 3% raise for other staff. Cockcroft made a motion to authorize a 3% pay raise. Farris seconded. Motion carried.

New Business:
Summer Reading: Summer Reading Club starts June 3rd.
Book Sale: Book sale will be the second weekend in June. The next board meeting will be in the other meeting room.
Personnel: Pennington handed out a sheet outlining the library staff and their duties.  Jeanne Thiel has been hired to replace Heather who is leaving May 14th. Elizabeth Eveland will assist with the six days of summer reading club.
Trustees:  Trustees McHenry, Cockcroft, and Michels terms expire shortly and need to be reappointed for 2008.
