The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Trustees Greg McHenry, Mary Ann Tucker, Amy McGilvrey, Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, Susan Punzelt, Jerry Cockcroft and Librarian Teresa Pennington.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: McGilvrey, second McHenry to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report: Pennington will correct the amount of gift money received for “Gifts” under “Other Receipts” for YTD. MOTION: Michels, second Tucker to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Book Committee: MOTION: Michels, second McHenry to approve 12 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
House Committee: No report.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: McHenry, second Michels to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: McGilvrey reported that the next meeting is February 16 at 6:00 p.m. The group will focus on membership, finalizing a constitution, and discussion on starting a monthly program. The Big Read: the Book Club will discuss Pride and Prejudice at their next meeting tomorrow February 9. Book selection for March is My Antonia, and the discussion group will meet March 15 at 1:30 p.m.
*The library has received $5,850.00 from the Illinois State Library for the first phase of the two-year Gates Grant. The library has raised $775 toward its 2nd phase match requirement of $3,900.
*The new website is still being set up by Ross Carroll of Illiana Technology.
MOTION: McHenry, second Michels to approve the Environmental Plan 2010. Motion carried.
*Board members created a Personnel Review Committee comprised of McHenry, McGilvrey, Punzelt and librarian Pennington to review two documents: “Personnel” (Serving Our Public 2.0: Standards for Illinois Public Libraries) and “Paris Carnegie Public Library Personnel Policy January 2010” (draft). They will review the latter and make recommendations for the board at the March meeting.
*An American Girl tea party fundraiser will be held February 13. The $300 raised will go to the library's computer matching fund.
*The library will be closed Presidents’ Day February 15.
*The Illinois Per Capita Grant for FY 2010 is $9268.52. (not yet received)
