Paris Public Library Board of Trustees
June 11, 2018

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:29 p.m. by President George Griffin. In attendance were Susan Punzelt, Cherie Lehman, Roxanne Michels, Evie Gill, Janine Brann, Bruce Young, Richard Gross and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent was Trustee Karen Earlywine.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Young, second by Brann to approve amended (incorrect date) May minutes. Motion carried.

Committee Reports:
*Finance: First month of the fiscal year. Nothing unusual. MOTION: Michels, second by Punzelt to approve finance report. Motion carried.
*Book: None
*House: Librarian Pennington reported that Midwest Restoration came to look at the damaged front stairs. It is repairable at a cost of $1600 – $2000. MOTION: Lehman, second by Gill to budget $2000 for the repair to the stairs. Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report: Circulation was higher. MOTION: Lehman, second by Gross to approve statistics report. Motion carried.
Librarian Pennington reported that Shakespeare was successful with over 70 in attendance. A gift was received from David and Barbara Dick. The program on Dementia and Alzheimer’s was canceled. The computer in the children’s room is back in service and now has software making it very difficult to hack. Several students were ejected from the library due to fighting, hitting, throwing books and vaping in the building.

*Friends: The friends may discuss raising funds for a sign in front of the library.

Old Business: Back to Books grant has purchased half of the books and is preparing for the STEM night on June 28. The remainder of books will be purchased soon. There was discussion of rejoining the Chamber ($100) with no action currently.

New Business: MOTION: Brann, second by Punzelt to set the non-resident fee at $32.00 per year. Motion carried.
Request for library to sell tickets for an upcoming local performance was discussed. It was decided that the library cannot sell tickets but would allow ticket sales if the vendor provides own help and monies.

Miscellaneous: June 28 – STEM night; Library will be closed July 4 and 7; Cultivating Creativity Children’s Art Exhibit presented by the Tarble Arts will be in July.

Meeting adjourned at 5:01p.m. Next meeting is Monday, July 9, 2018.
