The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Peg Giesler. In attendance were Trustees Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, Mary Ann Tucker, Sharon Farris and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Guest speaker Pat Boze also attended.
Minutes of previous meeting:
Minutes were reviewed. Motion: Tucker, second Michels to approve as read. Motion carried.
Finance report was reviewed. Motion: Farris, second Tucker to approve as read. Motion carried.
Motion: Michels, second Taylor to approve 19 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
Pennington reported that peeling and cracking plaster continues to be a problem in the Children’s Room, and that there is a new problem area in the northeast meeting room. The library has received an estimate of $1000 from Charles Elledge to fix the plaster in the Children’s room. Motion: Tucker, second Michels to approved $1500 to fix the plaster in both rooms. Motion carried.
Pennington reported that Arrow Fence will fix the fence in the back alley.
Tucker is still trying to find covers for the fluorescent lights in the reading room. The shelving in the reading room has been rearranged to accommodate new shelving units.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics):
Report was reviewed. Motion: Tucker, second Farris to adopt report as read. Motion carried.
Discussion about window shades and new mats for entrances. Motion: Farris, second, Michels to spend $250 of Christie Spung bequest to purchase 4 or 5 new floor mats. Motion carried.
Motion: Tucker, second Michels to spend $2400 of Spung bequest to buy 4 window shades for the reference room and 2 window shades for the librarians’ office. These shades would match the ones in the reading room. Motion carried. Tucker will contact Rhonda Steiner to provide the shades.
Pennington reported that July 8 will be the last day of the Summer Reading Program. The Stevens Puppet Show “Aladdin” will be presented July 18 at the Hangar. A Lincoln-Douglas Exhibit will be presented in October. Also in October will be a related program.
Pat Boze from Lincoln Trail Libraries System shared information from two brochures she brought, “Lincoln Trails Library System” and “Illinois Library Systems.”
