The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Trustees Greg McHenry, Mary Ann Tucker, Amy McGilvrey, Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Susan Punzelt and Jerry Cockcroft.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Tucker, second McHenry to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report. MOTION: McHenry, second McGilvrey to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Book Committee: MOTION: Michels, second Tucker to approve 12 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
House Committee: A large ice buildup was noticed on the northeast corner of the building in the recent winter weather. McHenry will have Bill Gosnell from Art Reese Lumber Company check for the cause.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: Michels, second McGilvrey to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: McGilvrey reported that the February meeting was cancelled due to weather and that the next meeting is March 15 at 6:00 p.m. The group will focus on membership and finalizing a constitution. The book group led by Friends volunteer Lauren Stolz will discuss The Big Read selection, My Antonia, on the 9th. A second Big Read discussion will meet March 15 at 1:30 p.m.
*The library has raised an additional $580 toward its 2nd phase match requirement of $3,900.
*Michels and Pennington met with John Carrington at Edgar County Bank and learned that the Schwartz Fund ($295,644.43) includes $44, 913.03 in undistributed income (over a ten-year period).
*Lucy Bishop Fund: MOTION: Tucker, second Michels for the board to authorize the opening of a checking account at the Edgar County Bank for the Lucy Bishop Fund income. Motion carried.
*MOTION: McGilvrey, second Taylor for an audit committee to be formed for all library checking accounts. Motion carried. Michels and McHenry volunteered to comprise the committee. They will audit the Thelma Andrews and Earl Anderson accounts quarterly.
*Pennington will arrange for lawn care for the library.
*Michels and McHenry comprise the budget committee and will meet later in March.
*The new website redesign is complete.
*Illinois Public Library Core Standards reviewed.
*Michels completed the Open Meetings Act On-Line Training.
*The library received $350 in matching computer funds from the American Girl Tea Party.
Next meeting will be Monday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m.
