The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Trustees Mary Ann Tucker, Amy McGilvrey, Mary Taylor, Ryan Fehrmann, Roxanne Michels, Jerry Cockcroft and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Greg McHenry and Susan Punzelt.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Tucker, second Michels to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Nominating Committee: Tucker presented the slate of officers for the 2010-2011 year: President—Farris, Vice President--McHenry and Secretary--Taylor. MOTION: Fehrmann, second Cockcroft to elect the slate of officers as presented. Motion carried.
Finance Report. MOTION: Michels, second Taylor to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Book Committee: MOTION Michels, second Cockcroft to approve 14 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
House Committee: No roof repair has been done yet.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: Cockcroft, second Michels to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: McGilvrey reported that the next meeting is May 17 at 6:30 p.m. The Friends will be running the annual Book Sale the second week in June. McGilvrey will research “Afternoons With Annie,” a program designed to encourage children to read aloud. The program would take place at the library.
*Pennington is in the process of choosing three computers for purchase with the $7800.00 from Phase 1 of the Gates grant.
*MOTION: McGilvrey, second Tucker that the board gives a “100% Vote of Confidence” for Head Librarian Pennington for FY 2009-2010. Motion carried.
*The second draft of the Paris Carnegie Public Library Technology Plan FY2011-FY2013 was distributed for review. MOTION: Cockcroft, second Fehrmann to approve. Motion carried.
*A photo ad has been placed in the current Edgar Co. “Welcome” directory.
*The library will host a book signing for John Kilgore, author of Echoes From the Past, Wednesday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the library.
*Registration for the Summer Reading Program has begun.
*Next meeting will be Monday, June 14 at 4:30 p.m. in the northeast meeting room.
