The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4.35 p.m. by President Peg Giesler. In attendance were Trustees Roxanne Michels, Merle Clark, Beth Graham, Mary Ann Tucker, Mary Taylor, Greg McHenry, and Librarian Teresa Pennington.
Absent: Trustees Sharon Farris, and Jerry Cockcroft.
Minutes of previous meeting: dated January 7, 2008
MOTION TO ACCEPT: Graham, second Cockcroft. Motion Carried.
Finance report was reviewed. MOTION: Clark, second McHenry. Motion carried.
MOTION: Michels, second McHenry to approve 19 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
Pennington reported that Dave Patterson cleaned the Gibson Room carpet and upholstered charis. Midwest Restoration filled the hole in the wall of the elevator machine room.
President Giesler appointed Taylor and Farris to the committee.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics):
MOTION: Graham, second Tucker. Motion carried.
LINC: 4 weeks left until everything is finished – six months ahead of schedule. Barcoded cards will be distributed beginning the last week of February. Plans are to go live on March 3, 2008. Pat Bose from LTLS will be here on that day. Teresa, Julie, Marge, & Michelle will attend LINC training at LTLS on Saturday. February 23.
E-Pay: Pennington showed a printout of the completed payment site.
Reading Room: Tucker reported that the chairs has been picked up and are being upholstered in Terre Haute. Two blinds have been ordered for the computer room.
Internet Upgrade: Blaze Lewis from Computer Wares is networking the computers and is waiting on Verizon installation to complete the process. Estimated cost is about $1300.00.
Library Card Policy: Pennington reviewed the policy. Tucker made a motion to approve. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Budget Committee: President Giesler reappointed Clark and Michels to the committee.
Expiring Terms: Cockcroft, Michels, and McHenry are up for reappointment this year.
President's Day: The library will be closed on February 18 for the holiday.
Retirement option: Pennington and Eveland are eligible for early IMRF retirement this year with more than 20 years city employment.
