The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris.  In attendance were Trustees Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, Greg McHenry, Ryan Fehrmann and Librarian Teresa Pennington.  Absent were Trustees Mary Ann Tucker, Amy McGilvrey and Susan Punzelt.

Minutes of Previous Meeting:  MOTION:  Michels, second Fehrmann to approve minutes as read.  Motion carried.

Finance Report:  MOTION:  Michels second Fehrmann to approve corrected report (Lucy Bishop Fund Expended This Month).  Motion carried.

Book Committee:  All April fiction and nonfiction books were paid for by city funds (Books and Periodicals line item in Finance Report).

House Committee:
*McHenry will get a sample from Art Reese of a popular “bronze” color for the front doors and bring it to the June meeting.
*The city will skim coat the damaged walk leading from the main sidewalk up to the library steps.

Librarian’s Report (Statistics):  MOTION:  Taylor, second McHenry, to approve report as read.  Motion carried.

Friends of the Library:  Pennington reported that the Friends annual meeting will be next week.

Nominating Committee:  MOTION:  McHenry, second Fehrmann to accept the slate of officers—Farris, President, Vice President McHenry, Secretary Taylor.  Motion carried.

Old Business:
*The new office computer is up and running.  Pennington purchased new software, including Quickbooks, for it.
*MOTION:  McHenry, second Michels, to approve Pennington to use Gates Grant Phase 2 money to purchase one laptop, two desktop computers, and one monitor for approximately $2300.
*Pennington reported on equipment problems: catalog computer hard drive replaced, office color printer died so staff will be using public color printer.

New Business:
*MOTION:  Fehrmann, second McHenry to permit Pennington to apply for the SBA Small Business & Libraries grant (see attached “SBA Grant”).  Motion carried.  Application is due May 16, 2011.  This grant gives public libraries information, resources, equipment, and hardware that will help local businesses create new economic growth possibilities.
*Pennington reported problems with Frontier accepting the city’s tax exempt number as the library’s; she is working to keep the library’s separate phone number in the phone book.

Librarian’s Announcements:
*Summer children’s’ activities begin June 7.  Registration begins May 16.
*There will be no June book sale.  Next sale will be in September.
