The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Vice President Greg McHenry.  In attendance were Mary Taylor, Sue Punzelt, Amy McGilvrey, Aaron Rhoads, new Trustee George Griffin and Librarian Teresa Pennington.  Absent were Trustees Roxanne Michels, Sharon Farris and Ryan Fehrmann.

Minutes of Previous Meeting:  MOTION:  McGilvrey, second Punzelt to approve minutes.  Motion carried.

Finance Report:  MOTION:  Punzelt, second Griffin to approve report.  Motion carried.

Book Committee:  The library purchased 20 fiction, eight nonfiction, 16 children’s fiction, two children’s non-fiction, and eight young adult titles.

House Committee:
*MOTION:  Griffin, second Rhoads to engage Francis Associates for an estimated fee of $750 to provide general engineering services to prepare specifications and bid documents for painting exterior wood surfaces of Paris Library (see attached quote).  Motion carried.
*McHenry reported that Tri-C Plastering will start plaster work downstairs August 6, to be finished in 2-3 days.  Prior to plaster work, the Friends of the Library will remove books and shelves from affected areas of the Children’s Room, and custodian Ray Korte will take out shelves in the magazine storage room where the majority of the plaster work will be done.  Some plaster work will also be done in the northeast meeting room.
*MOTION:  Rhoads, second McGilvrey to engage Tim Saiter to paint following plaster work for an estimated cost of $1626.  Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report (Statistics):  MOTION:  Punzelt, second Griffin to approve report.  Motion carried.

Friends of the Library:  Pennington reported that Friends and others from the community moved many boxes of donated books, CDs and DVDs to the library.  The Friends will meet next Monday July 16.

New Business:  Pennington reported that the Summer Reading Program averaged 75 children per week.  She also briefly described the 10 new online resources now available with a library card.

Librarian’s Announcements:
Mad Science of St. Louis will present “Science is So Delicious,” the final Summer Reading Program event, tomorrow July 10 at the YMCA Hangar.
