The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30
p.m. by President Greg McHenry. In attendance were Mary Taylor, George Griffin,
Aaron Rhoads, Ryan Fehrmann, Sharon Farris, Susan Punzelt, Amy McGilvrey and
Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent was Trustee Roxanne Michels.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: McGilvrey, second Fehrmann to approve
July minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report: MOTION: Fehrmann, second Punzelt to approve report, to recognize
July/August 2013 checks and deposits, and to authorize the purchase of 23 adult fiction,
five adult nonfiction, 37 children’s fiction, 15 children’s non-fiction and five young adult
titles from Baker & Taylor for $946.69. Motion carried.
Book Committee: No report.
House Committee: MOTION: Fehrmann, second Rhoads to approve additional work
on the exterior of the building: replace second story window sills on the north side of
original building ($720), waterproofing new addition ($3600), cleaning the limestone
base of new addition ($2895), cleaning the bricks of the original building ($7830) for a
total additional cost of $15,045, increasing the total cost of the exterior work from
$57,880 to $72,925. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: Griffin, second Farris to approve report.
Friends of the Library: Dave Ehlert will portray Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln
tonight at 6:30 in a program entitled Abe Lincoln, Mark Twain & the Civil War.
Unfinished Business: Board members reviewed Chapter 10 from Serving Our Public
(see attached IL Library Standards).
*Pennington has completed audiobook orders using the Back2Books grant
money. Grant was for $3500; $3508.30 spent.
New Business: MOTION: Griffin, second McGilvrey to accept revised circulation
policy. Motion carried.
*Pennington reviewed summer activities at the library and shared photos.
Librarian’s Announcements: “Experiences of the Illinois Civil War Soldier,” an exhibit
from the Tarble Arts Center, will be here October 1-19. Dr. Robert Sterling will present
“Experiences of Illinois Civil War Soldiers” October 10 at 6:30 p.m.
