The answer is yes . . . and no. Paris Public Library's supply of paper forms is very limited this year. The paper forms we have now are on the spinner rack near the desk: federal 1040A and 1040EZ and Illinois IL-1040 and instructions. Federal 1040 forms are expected to ship soon.
Libraries in the IRS Tax Forms Outlet Program were notified that IRS appropriations were significantly cut in the 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill passed by Congress. This will reduce the tax forms for libraries to only 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms. The IRS will not provide libraries with paper copies of instruction booklets.
Federal tax forms and instructions are posted at IRS.gov. The IRS recommends filing online, printing needed forms and instructions from IRS.gov, or ordering paper copies to be mailed to you. Go to IRS.gov/orderforms to order online or call 1-800-829-3676. According to the IRS, you may order up to 10 different forms and publications to complete your tax return; instructions are automatically included with your order.
Illinois tax forms are posted at Illinois Department of Revenue or may be ordered on the 24-hour Forms Order Line 1-800-356-6302. Filing online is also an option. If you live in Illinois, but work in Indiana, visit Indiana Department of Revenue for their nonresident tax form, too.
Library staff will print tax forms from the Internet at no charge, but we will have to charge to print instructions.
