The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Trustees Mary Ann Tucker, Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, Greg McHenry, Susan Punzelt and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Jerry Cockcroft, Ryan Fehrmann and Amy McGilvrey.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Tucker, second McHenry to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report. MOTION: McHenry, second Punzelt to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Book Committee: MOTION Michels, second Tucker to approve 15 titles of nonfiction for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
*Still waiting on the permanent repair of the two patched areas of the roof.
*McHenry is working on someone to repair the damaged plaster in the southeast corner of the Children’s Room.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: McHenry, second Michels to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: No report.
Audit Committee: McHenry and Michels have audited the library’s accounts that are not administered through the City of Paris. No discrepancies were found.
*The library annual report for 2009-2010 shows corrected income for this year and last year under “Income—Other Interest” because of newly recorded interest in the Thelma Andrews Fund.
*On Tuesday July 20 Pennington will install the three computers purchased with money from Phase 1 of the Gates grant.
*MOTION: Tucker, second McHenry to authorize sending grounds maintenance bills to the city for payment without waiting for board approval. Motion carried.
*Discussion of Schwartz fund. McHenry, Tucker, Michels and Pennington will comprise a new finance committee to investigate options for investing the Schwartz Fund money.
*Shelby Norman is working under a federal jobs program (CEFS) that allows her 30 hours per week from July 12 through mid-August.
*The Summer Reading Program went very well. It ended with the “Spooky Goofy Magic Show” held at The Hangar July 13.
*No August meeting. Next meeting will be Monday, September 13 at 4:30 p.m. in the Gibson Room.
