The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Trustees Mary Taylor, Sue Punzelt, Mary Ann Tucker, Roxanne Michels, Amy McGilvrey, and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Greg McHenry and Ryan Fehrmann.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Tucker, second Michels to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report: MOTION: Tucker, second Punzelt to approve report as submitted. Motion carried.
Book Committee: All February fiction and nonfiction books were paid for by city funds (Books and Periodicals line item in Finance Report).
House Committee: No report.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: McGilvrey, second Punzelt to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: The next meeting will be tonight March 21, 2011 at 6:00 p.m..
*Two staff computers must be updated to handle the Horizon 7.5 upgrade. MOTION: Tucker, second Michels for Pennington to have Parkway Computers install more memory for the two staff computers, and to install a new computer for the office for a total of around $680.
*New modems were installed and the Internet is running 7 to 10 times faster depending on usage/number of users.
*Three new computers must be purchased by the Gates Grant Phase 2 deadline of August 15.
*Gifts and memorials since last meeting total around $6,650. Taylor will send a thank you letter to the family of Miriam Churukian Levonian for their gift to promote children’s literacy.
*Farris appointed McHenry and Fehrmann to the nominating committee.
*The Big Read was successful. Pennington reported that children especially enjoyed the ravens throughout the library.
*The Mystery of Orchids program will be held Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m.
*The March 12 FOTL Book Sale raised $936.11.
*The library and its events have been well publicized in the Paris Beacon News recently.
*National Library Week is April 10-16.
Next meeting is April 11.
