The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris.  In attendance were Trustees Greg McHenry, Mary Taylor, Roxanne Michels, Mary Ann Tucker, Amy McGilvrey, Susan Punzelt, Aaron Rhoads, Ryan Fehrmann and Librarian Teresa Pennington.

Minutes of Previous Meeting:  MOTION:  Rhoads, second McHenry to approve minutes.  Motion carried.

Finance Report:  MOTION:  Michels, second Tucker to approve report.  Motion carried.

Book Committee:  Thirty-eight fiction and 10 nonfiction titles were purchased in November.

House Committee:
*The men’s restroom urinal needs maintenance.  Pennington is working with Jason Gore to find a solution.  *MOTION:  McHenry, second Taylor to spend not more than $1000 to have Dale Martin install new electrical outlets in the library—three in the reference room, two in the downstairs northeast meeting room, and one upstairs by the stair railing.  Motion passed.

Librarian’s Report (Statistics):  MOTION:  McHenry, second MIchels to approve report.  Motion carried.

Friends of the Library:  Fifty children attended “Christmas at the Library.”  The Thursday Brown Bag Book Club is disbanding for lack of attendance.  The First Tuesday Book Club is reorganizing.

New Business:
*E-book interest and usage is exploding.  MOTION:  McHenry, second Fehrmann to allow Pennington to use $1000 of Christie Spung bequest money to purchase Overdrive Advantage v2.0.  Motion passed.  When our library becomes an Overdrive Advantage library, our patrons can use MyMediaMall to access both Illinois Heartland’s e-book collection and our library’s custom “Advantage” e-book collection.  Our Advantage collection will be available only to our library’s patrons.
*Pennington has designated an annual staff workday on Martin Luther King Day.  The library will be closed on that day.

Librarian’s Announcements:
*The library will be closed December 24 and 26 for Christmas, open 10-4 on December 31, and closed January 2 for New Year’s Day.
*Charla Sanchez is working at the library until early February.
*The library will host a How to Start a Business class on April 30.  The three-hour class will be taught by EIU’s Business Solutions Center.
*Pennington will be a presenter at the Chamber of Commerce’s Future Leaders meeting at City Hall on December 13.
