Library services as affected by COVID-19

Paris Public Library is closed until further notice. This is not a decision that the board and staff made lightly, but with much consideration of recommendations from public health authorities and the Illinois Library Association. Most libraries in the Illinois Heartland Library System are closing during the same time frame. IHLS is suspending delivery for at least two weeks.

All current due dates will be extended. No late fees will be charged until further notice. Please keep your checked-out items at home, even if overdue, for the time being and please stay home if you do not feel well. The dropbox is closed.

All programs are canceled through at least mid-April. The planned Auto Repair Manuals Book Sale on April 4 is postponed until further notice.

Illinois Library Association, National Network of Libraries of Medicine, American Library Association, and public health agencies are recommending that libraries do not offer “curbside” service. We will follow their advice. After March 17, contact us or Facebook message the library to reach us.

Again, please help us by keeping checked out items – even if overdue – until we reopen. Late fees are suspended until further notice and the dropbox is closed.

We also have a wide variety of ebooks, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines, plus special collections of children’s ebooks available for you to enjoy at home, without needing to come to the library. See separate post for details.

We would rather be open as normal but the health of our staff and patrons is important to us. We will reassess all of these plans against the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation on a daily basis. Please watch our website and our Facebook page for updates.
