The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. on January 5, 2009 by President Peg Giesler. In attendance were Trustees Sharon Farris, Mary Ann Tucker, Roxanne Michels, Greg McHenry, Amy McGilvrey, and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Trustees Mary Taylor and Jerry Cockcroft were absent. Amy McGilvrey took notes in the absence of the secretary.
Minutes of Previous Meeting:
Minutes from December 1, 2008 were reviewed. Motion: McHenry, second Farris to approve the minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance report was reviewed. Motion: Michels, second Tucker to approve the finance report as read. Motion carried.
Motion: Michels, second McGilvrey to approve the submitted titles for purchase through the Lucy Bishop Fund. Motion carried.
McHenry reported that the new downspout extensions had been damaged and that Hand Construction will replace the ceiling tiles in the Children’s Reading room in January. Otis Elevator installed the emergency telephone in the elevator in December, but it is not yet connected.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics):
Statistical Report was reviewed. Motion: McHenry, second Tucker to approve the report with three corrections as added by the librarian. Motion carried.
As discussed and announced at the December meeting, a vote was taken to amend Article III, Section IV of the Bylaws, changing the board meeting from the first Monday to the second Monday. Motion: Tucker, second Michels. Change approved, effective with the February meeting.
Food for Fines drive was a success. 194 food items were collected; $295.00 in fines were waived. Mary Taylor delivered the items to Compassionate Food Ministry. Pennington suggested additional publicity if the drive is repeated next year.
Holiday Sale raised $366.25 to be used to purchase DVDs.
Pennington has reorganized the website with the goal of making it easier for users to find information. Some additional updates are possible. An employment application may now be downloaded from the site.
