The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President George Griffin.  In attendance were Mary Taylor, Greg McHenry, Evie Gill, Roxanne Michels, Sue Punzelt, Karen Earlywine and Librarian Teresa Pennington.  Absent was Trustee Ginny English.

Minutes of Previous Meeting:  MOTION:  McHenry, second Earlywine to approve the July 11 minutes.  Motion carried.

Correspondence, communications and public comments:  Julie Buchhorn wrote a thank you note to Pennington for proctoring TSI exams for an individual.

Finance Report:  MOTION:  McHenry, second Michels to approve the July/August report, to recognize July/August checks and deposits and September invoice for payment, and to authorize the purchase of 23 adult fiction, four adult non-fiction, 11 children’s fiction, six children’s non-fiction and three young adult books from Baker & Taylor.  Motion carried.

Book Committee:  No report.

House Committee:  McHenry shared an estimate from Tom’s Landscaping Services to solve drainage and downspout problems.  Discussion.  MOTION:  McHenry, second Gill to approve the work to be done by Tom’s.  Motion carried.
*Rod Martin Heating and Air Conditioning invoiced the library for $1037.99 to refill one upstairs ceiling A/C with refrigerant (it leaked) and to repair the other ceiling A/C that leaked water.  McHenry will get an estimate to buy two new air conditioners.
*The elevator passed the August 10 inspection.
*Teresa Vrzina landscaped the front yard.
*A-Advance sprayed for insects.
*Pennington contacted Dale Martin to fix two non-working emergency lights.
*Library staff are now using the City Hall dumpster (no cost).
 
Librarian’s Report (Statistics):  MOTION:  Michels, second Punzelt to approve the July/August report.  Motion carried.  Members read the July & August Review. 

Friends:  Will host reenactor Mary Todd Lincoln on September 28 in the Community Room for an event called “Mrs. Lincoln’s Salon.”

Old Business:  None.
 
New Business:  The board will give Ginny English excused absences October through December for her to take a class, and leave the meeting time as is.
*Board members reviewed the draft revision of the Personnel Policy.
*The library hired Dori Entrican-Allen as Library Associate.
*Custodian Doug Johnson resigned.
    
Miscellaneous:  The library will be closed Saturday, September 24 for Honeybee Festival.
 
Meeting adjourned 5:45 p.m.  Next meeting is Monday, October 17, 2016 (third Monday).
