The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Vice President Greg McHenry. In attendance were Trustees Mary Taylor, Amy McGilvrey, Susan Punzelt, Aaron Rhoads, Mary Ann Tucker and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Roxanne Michels, Ryan Fehrmann and Sharon Farris.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Tucker, second Punzelt to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.
Finance Report: MOTION: McGilvrey, second Punzelt to approve report. Motion carried.
Book Committee: Eighteen fiction titles and 3 nonfiction titles were purchased in September. No Lucy Bishop funds were used.
*McHenry reported that the company TBM cleaned the windows for a cost of $400. The downstairs carpets and upstairs high traffic areas were cleaned for a cost of $400.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: Punzelt, second Tucker to approve report as read. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: The Christmas Program will be Thursday December 1 at 6:00 p.m. The theme is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
*The library has received a video camera and books as part of our Business and Libraries Working Together grant. A laptop will be sent soon.
*Champaign Public Library and Urbana Free Library will remove all their items from the LINC catalog in December to form their own separate online catalog. They will still be a part of Illinois Heartland Library System. See the attached “Changes Coming” handout for more information.
*”Chapter 2 Governance & Administration” standards for per capita grant application from the state were reviewed. MOTION: Tucker, second Rhoads to approve requested uses for per capita grant funds—videos, audios, processing supplies and Paris Beacon News microfilm.
*The book sale netted $1004 ($276 during the bag sale). Many unsold books were cleared out during a “FREE” day, and some books were sent to Giggil to be sold online.
*Responses to the article about the Kindle in the Beacon News were favorable.
*Storyhour begins October 18. Registration is full with 15 children.
*Pennington represented the library at Brookstone’s Community Expo on September 30.
