Paris Public Library will host the 2017-2018 Cultivating Creativity: Consolidated Communications Children’s Art Exhibition from July 3 to July 21 during normal library hours.
The traveling exhibit displays outstanding art produced by school art programs throughout East-Central Illinois during the 2016-2017 school year. Underwritten by Consolidated Communications, it is drawn from the Children’s Art Exhibition presented annually each spring at Tarble Arts Center. Each year one student from every contributing school is selected to participate in the exhibit that circulates throughout the region during the next academic year. This year the exhibit has traveled to 13 area communities, from Assumption to Paris and from Tuscola to Effingham. There are 42 student works ranging in media from pastel and acrylic to watercolor and tempera.
Paris student Kaleigh Comstock created an oil pastel/watercolor piece titled Red, White, and Blue. Carter Doughan created a watercolor piece titled Candle Light Burning Bright. Olivia Griffin created a tempera Warhol Hands. Cedric Rhoads created a mixed paper collage Boats in the Ocean. Chrisman student Ariyah Bird created a collograph titled Sunflower.
