The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President George Griffin. In attendance were Susan Punzelt, Evie Gill, Janine Brann, Roxanne Michels and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent was Trustees Karen Earlywine, Cherie Lehman, Bruce Young and Richard Gross.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Michels, second by Brann to approve March 11, 2019 minutes. Motion carried.
Correspondence, communications and public comments: None
Committee Reports:
*Finance: MOTION: Gill, second by Brann to accept finance report. Motion carried.
*Book: None
*House: The ash trees in front of the library were removed due to Emerald Ash Borer damage. May consider a new tree on the north side.
Librarian’s Report: Library usage was slightly lower for the month. The Big Read was not as successful as in the past due to the choice of reading material. Low vision programs served 8 people this past month. It meets once a month. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Fun was very successful with 34 in attendance. The monthly nutrition series is building an audience. Mary Liz Wright is interested in continuing after a summer break. MOTION: Michels, second by Punzelt to approve statistics/librarians report. Motion carried.
*Friends: A letter requesting donations for the electronic sign will be presented at the next meeting. Shakespeare in the Park will be June 1.
Old Business: Replacement computer is still on hold. Ideal computer is not available at this time. It was decided to add 20 more old yearbooks to those previously digitized on CDs.
New Business: Librarian Pennington presented an updated safety policy for the library. This will include an area of rescue assistance for handicap persons with new signage to designate the areas. MOTION: Brann, second by Punzelt to accept safety policy. Motion approved. Current officers will retain their present offices. Ethics statements were signed. Annual agreement for SHARE members was approved. The library was awarded the Per Capita Grant.
Miscellaneous: The library will present an Under the Sea program for elementary students on April 15.
