The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President George Griffin. In attendance were Cherie Lehman, Roxanne Michels, Evie Gill, Karen Earlywine, Richard Gross, Susan Punzelt and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Janine Brann and Bruce Young.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Lehman, second by Earlywine to approve November 12, 2018 minutes. Motion carried.
Correspondence, communications and public comments: A thank you note from Anita Griffith was read.
Committee Reports:
*Finance: MOTION: Michels, second by Gill to accept finance report. Motion carried.
*Book: The Charleston newspaper was renewed for 1 year at a cost of $466.00.
*House: Librarian Pennington reported that she still has not had any contact from Honest Abe Roofing concerning roof repairs. MOTION: Gross, second by Punzelt to cash in a M. Schwartz C.D. to help cover the upcoming roof repairs. Motion passed.
Librarian’s Report: Library usage was up for the month. Two visits from Crestwood school with 6th grade students studying about Andrew Carnegie and 8th graders doing research on various subjects. MOTION: Gill, second by Earlywine to approve statistics report. Motion carried.
Librarian Pennington reported that the framed Lincoln in the “Looking for Lincoln” display is missing and was possibly stolen. Several middle school boys were asked to leave due to misbehavior. Graffiti was been found in the men’s restroom.
*Friends: The Friends of the Library raised $250.00 on the Music Sale.
Old Business: None.
New Business: Prior to this meeting, each board member viewed a different online webinar. We reported on our selections and discussed programs focusing on meeting the needs of patrons with challenges or disabilities.
The meeting calendar for 2019 was presented by Librarian Pennington. MOTION: Gross, second by Punzelt to accept the 2019 calendar. Motion passed.
Miscellaneous: Library will close on December 24-25. Open 10-4 on December 31 and will be closed New Year’s Day.
