The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:26 p.m. by President George Griffin. In attendance were Karen Earlywine, Evie Gill, Janine Brann, Cherie Lehman and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Susan Punzelt, Bruce Young, Richard Gross and Roxanne Michels.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Brann, second by Earlywine to approve January 14, 2018 minutes. Motion carried.
Correspondence, communications and public comments: Two thank you notes were received. Linda Lane representing the Paris Chamber and Kayla Lindsay from NAL, both thanked Teresa for her historical information and tour of the building which she presented to the Future Leaders of Paris.
Committee Reports:
*Finance: MOTION: Gill, second by Lehman to accept finance report. Motion carried.
*Book: None
*House: Librarian Pennington reported that the roof repairs were completed on January 24.
Librarian’s Report: Library usage was much higher for the month, with 10 programs for the month. Meeting rooms were used 35 times. MLK Jr. Day brought the “Winter Wonderland” to the Library. RBdigital usage is on the increase as patrons discover the new service. Tax forms have been received. MOTION: Brann, second by Earlywine to approve statistics report. Motion carried.
*Friends: The Book Sale will be held March 8 and 9 and will include books and CDs.
Old Business: Information was presented about Hoopla, a streaming media service. After some discussion, it was tabled until a later date.
New Business: The circulation desk laptop will be replaced. The total cost for a new laptop is $699.95. The old laptop will be used elsewhere. The minimum wage increase was discussed and will be examined at the budget committee meeting. Librarian Pennington informed the board that the Paris Library is on par/slightly above the Nationwide Public Library Circulation Trends.
Miscellaneous: Library will close on Presidents Day, February 18.
