The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:29 p.m. by President George Griffin. In attendance were Janine Brann, Karen Earlywine, Cherie Lehman, Evie Gill, Richard Gross, Roxanne Michels and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent was Bruce Young and Susan Punzelt.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: Michels, second by Earlywine to approve minutes from January 13, 2020. Motion carried.
Correspondence, communications and public comments: None
Committee Reports:
*Finance: The finance report was reviewed including an update for the LED sign fundraiser. MOTION: Gill, second by Brann to accept finance report. Motion carried.
*Book: None
*House: Restrooms locks have been problematic and restroom keys disappear and reappear.
Librarian’s Report: Usage was average for the month. The Make & Take Valentine had 30 in attendance. PACE’s Low Vision Group is back for monthly meetings. Sections of newspapers are disappearing on a regular basis. As a result, papers are now kept at the desk. The Champaign-Urbana paper had an $18 cost increase and the Monday edition is only the first 2 sections of the paper. Librarian Pennington attended the partners meeting for the Big Read at Vigo County Public Library. Lost and missing items still in the SHARE catalog were cleared out and Paul is scanning items that were checked out during inventory.
MOTION: Lehman, second by Gross to approve statistics/librarians report. Motion carried.
*Friends: An evening with Beatrix Potter is scheduled for March 10.
Old Business: The new baby changing table has been installed. President Griffin reported that the entryway light may be in place by summer.
New Business: The board reviewed the Emergency Closing Policy and the Pandemic Response Procedure Policy. The annual Library Certification was submitted to the state library in January. No word from the DoIT Consortium for Internet connectivity. The board discussed the possible donation of new trees and decided not to plant new trees at this time. There were several requests for long-term use of meeting rooms. Due to the hour requirements, these requests were not able to be accommodated. The U of I Extension will be part of the library’s summer activities. The Douglas-Hart Nature Center will be presenting 2 programs at the Paris Library.
